Póvoa Dão is situated in the parish of Silgueiros, 14km from the town of Viseu. Take the A1 from the modern airport of Porto, about an hour’s drive away, to Aveiro. From there take the A25 to Viseu. Lisbon airport is under 300km away. Take the IP-3 motorway, heading towards Coimbra and Viseu.

Golf can played some 20 minutes away at the 18-hole Golf Montebelo, which has exceptional views over the mountain ranges, Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo.

Serra da Estrela (mountain range of the star) is the highest mountain range in Portugal. This protected National Park offers skiing in winter in the ski resort of Loriga and at the Skypark, where snowboarding, skiing, abseiling and riding are on offer.

The Development:

Póvoa Dão is a seven hundred year old medieval village with traces of Roman occupation and a Roman pathway running through it.

Canoeing

To help set the scene Póvoa Dão is in the heart of Portugal. Enshrined by a 120 hectare farm, through which flows the River Dão for 2.5km, Póvoa Dão is conveniently situated 45 minutes from sandy white beaches, close to an 18-hole golf course, close to mountains which are an ideal base for outdoor activities such as hiking, walking and skiing, and convenient for historic towns that offer excellent shopping, health and medical facilities.
